The Power of A Brand

The Power of A Beard

I know some people especially some men are completely and totally fed up with the Duke of Hastings and Bridgerton. Hahaha! You can’t simply understand the attraction nor will you ever. The Duke is positively swoon worthy. This man is both beautiful and handsome at the same time. How is that possible? But It is what it is. However I am not here to talk about the Duke…..I am here to talk about the impact of Bridgerton not only on those who were part of the production but us, who have been binging on it. Yes, I shamelessly admit. I am now on my second repeat. I shall not apologize. But I must make haste to move on…..

The Duke….. Regé-Jean Page, fine specimen created by our good and gracious and ever loving Father. Thank you Jesus for thine creation! Guys, I am just stating facts. Don’t get your knickers in a twist! This one is simply what it is.

However Regé-Jean Page has been acting for a while. He has been in Roots. I admit I did not watch it nor am I going to do so. The first one broke me. I care not for a repeat. He has been in For the People. If you have not watched it, I implore you to do so even if it was only two seasons. It was a great legal drama. Very unhappy that they did not continue on with it. And for all sci-fi fans- Mortal Engines as Captain Kora. Fabulous!!

So you see Regé-Jean Page has been around. He has acted in various series and movies. So why all the hullabaloo now? Why are all people gaga over this man? Could it be the power of a beard? We have to agree that there is a magical transformation with the beard. I mean who would have thought facial hair could make such a difference. He was handsome without it but with it….he is simply magnificent. However, there is something more to him, something profoundly more….

For every obscure person that wants to get out of their obscurity: find anything that you can do and be excellent with it, and be incessantly consistent with it.

Lawrence Namale

A word that could try to describe the more is CONSISTENCY. There has been an evidential consistency to Rejé-Jean. He has worked very hard at his craft and his brand. Everything that he does, he does with excellence. It is so clear in the movies and series before Bridgerton. And even the music he produces. Yes, my dears, he is musician as well. Don’t worry! I have got you. Head on to this site to watch him crooning.

Even while watching his interviews, we are met with an intelligent, eloquent and passionate man. He has been following his purpose and calling and we thank God that now is the time for his light to shine. After all, the theme of the year is Let your light shine .

What truly amazes me with all things Bridgerton is that people who have been acting for a while, who have been in obscurity have suddenly been thrown into the limelight. If for some reason, you have been under a rock or well life happened ,allow me to enlighten you on Bridgerton, my dear one. This is a television series based on a historical romance book series by Julia Quinn that was taken up by Netflix and Shonda Rhimes. Need I say more? It is Wealth, lust, and betrayal set against the backdrop of Regency-era England, seen through the eyes of the powerful Bridgerton family as stated by imdb, with the one and only Duke who is an amalgamation of every rake in every historical romance I have ever read.

Everyone is talking about them. Almost all media channels are interviewing them ,wanting to know absolutely everything about them, even the most minuscule of things. They have reached an unbelievable level of fame in these times of Covid-19. Could it be the timing? I know we are in a season where we need all joy and laughter to get through what was 2020 and hopefully not taking our entire 2021. Bridgerton has delivered over and above on that. But whatever it is, we are all agog about Bridgerton and especially His Grace. I mean, we are going back to photos and interviews of a man from years ago. Don’t look at me like that!! You know you’ve been doing that. We want to know what he is about, who he is, what his story is.

And that’s the thing…..whether you like it or not, your story is your brand. Your gifts, passions, abilities, personality and experiences all merge together to tell a story of who you are. It is your power. Your story is truly your brand. We are in the era of personal brands. Everyone seems to be talking about it…or is it just me?

But now it is of utmost importance because your brand differentiates you from others. Your story differentiates you. In an era where there seems to be much conformity , there is much more need to brand. But it is not enough to just brand…are you being authentic to who you are and not easily swayed by the world. Is there a purpose to you or are you here, there and everywhere?

Your Story is Your Brand

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances, but they’re worth takin’
I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along)

I hope you dance~ LeAnn Rimes

It’s time now to think of your brand. It’s time to think of your story and what it will say about you. You may be in the dark, in obscurity where people do not see you or recognize you but what happens when suddenly you are thrown into the limelight. What will be said of you? What story will your brand tell? There will always be a before and an after.

What will stand the test of time? What will your ‘beard’ say? I hope wherever you are that you remain consistent in your craft. That even when things are not looking up, you are still working at it, grinding away in the rain or sunshine. Because that day will come-Your day of Bridgerton. That day when one business deal or one creative project comes through and throws you to the next level. I hope it will be said that you are an authentic and purpose driven person. Because that’s who you are. This is me!

Well, I bid thee farewell and pray you make haste on your purpose. 🙂

Forever yours,

Lady Patricia Opio of Agwataton

  1. Gosh!!!

I felt the passion in every single word you wrote. Not one amiss.

From your passion for God, to that of Regé-Jean’s beards, to the man himself, for the series, for writing and most importantly, your passion to pass a message across.

This piece isn’t just some delicious read (which it is, BTW) but a passionate one as well. Love love love eeeeeeet!

  2. Bridgerton has got us all in a twist. But this write up is beautiful and an accurate reflection of how we all need to remain true to ourselves. Be consistent because one day will be our day for glory and fame. Thank you Lady Patricia Opio of Agwataton.
