Through The Metamorphosis

20th March 2022, Uganda wakes up to the news that the speaker of Parliament, Hon Jacob Oulanyah has passed away. There had been much hullabaloo around the time of his sickness and even more after his death.

But this opened my eyes and heart to many things but of course the question was when I die, what would be said of me? I have asked myself this question quite a number of times but I am still in the process, yes I am a work in progress. But how exactly do we get to living and leaving a legacy where we can boldly proclaim, This is Me!? It is getting through the metamorphosis process

Any transition serious enough to alter your definition of sellf will require not just small adjustments in your way of thinking and living but a full on metamorphosis

Last year, I embarked on a journey to write my story from the point of discovering I was HIV positive and all the chaos reigned to the point where I could share my story. It was one of the hardest things I have done in my life. I was so used to hiding myself for fear of rejection because when I did try, I was rejected so painfully and so like a snail, I went back into my shell and remained there for years until one day, the shell became so small and I realised I could not hide anymore.

Nothing comes from running from who you are. Sometimes you have to stop and face yourself and all your fears head on. Is it easy? Hell No!! But by then, you have no choice to peep out into the light. The darkness can not hold you in no more.

Through the Metamorphosis

In this series, This is Me: Through the Metamorphosis, I will be sharing snippets from my book, This is Me: The Metamorphosis of Ayo. The whole aim is to inspire and empower women and creatives to embrace their stories- it doesn’t matter what- the good, the bad and the ugly and accept and own who you are, freeing you to unlock your creative potential: you are already creative. You just need to unlock and unleash it. All this leads one to design an authentic and purpose-driven brand. A Brand that truly reflects every facet of who you are

I am looking forward to sharing more of myself with you and getting to hear from you on this journey of discovery. Cheers to a new journey!
